About Whitetail Deer Hunting

Welcome to EVERGLADES ADVENTURES Whitetail Deer hunting page. We have been in operation since 1989 offering hunts for wild game in Florida. Starting in the 2011-2012 season we will begin offering Whitetail Deer hunts in South Florida.

We offer spot and stalk hunting from ELECTRIC 4WD vehicles or walking. We utilize pop-up blinds for our still hunting. We don't offer tree stand hunting.

OUR WHITETAIL

We offer seasonal only hunting for our whitetail. Our hunts are strictly FAIR CHASE on open lands. We have NO HIGH FENCED areas stocked with whitetail for you to hunt. This is NOT A PRESERVE type hunt or a CANNED HUNT.

Our whitetail deer are totally wild animals. They are NOT held in enclosures, stocked or purchased and released behind fences prior to the hunt, or any other type of hunt which is NOT FAIR CHASE (yes, this commonly occurs). Most of the operations that are set up for these types of hunts offer a "GUARANTEED KILL" and are CANNED HUNTS. We don't offer a "GUARANTEED KILL". If you are looking for this type of a hunt there are numerous HIGH FENCE operations which offer them.

SELECTION AND HARVEST

This particular property where our whitetail hunts are conducted has received NO past hunting pressure. This 9000 (nine-thousand) acre property is pristine and very special. We are only harvesting SELECTED animals on this property. This property has a LARGE population of whitetail deer.

ALL HUNTS are FULLY GUIDED (your party and a guide). You will not be permitted to shoot until you and your guide have discussed the animal and a decision has been made to harvest that particular animal and discussed the price prior to harvest. CLIENTS ARE NOT PERMITTED TO HUNT WITHOUT A GUIDE.

DECISION TO HARVEST is made by the guide.

DEFINITION OF HARVEST is the attempt to harvest the animal. Once the decision is made to harvest the animal and a price is agreed upon it is then up to the CLIENT to make the harvest. Discharging any weapon at one of our whitetails is considered harvesting.

It is the CLIENTS decision to shoot or NOT to shoot. If you are not comfortable with the shot presented then please DON'T SHOOT. We are NOT conducting target practice. We are NOT responsible for BAD shooting skills. Please be proficient with the weapon of YOUR choice.

We will do everything possible to recover your animal but, YOUR GUIDE and EVERGLADES ADVENTURES assumes NO responsibility to recover your animal due to shot placement.

OUR TROPHY BUCKS

This particular property produced the number one typical whitetail harvested to date for Collier County, Florida. This buck scored 123 4/8 and was harvested in 2010.

The Florida Buck Registry was established in 1982 to provide hunters with a record of the number and quality of white-tailed deer taken in Florida. The minimum antler score necessary to qualify is 100 Boone and Crockett inches for typical antlers and 125 for non-typical antlers.

Our trophy hunters have a good to excellent chance to harvest a Florida registry buck on one of our trophy hunts.

We have RECENT game camera photos of some of the quality and quantity of deer on this property which can be viewed on the deer hunting gallery.

Persons interested in viewing a video of the quality of our ranches, the vast numbers of whitetail located there and to give you a general idea of what to expect on one of our whitetail hunts, please view the video below:

GENERAL

We like to be on a very personal level with our clients. For this reason our whitetail hunts are limited to no more than 3-4 hunters at a time. Most of our hunts are for only two persons. If your party is for two or more people you will most likely be the only party hunting with us at that time. At the time of your reservation we can inform you of how many persons will be hunting with us at that time if you desire.

For this hunt you will need full camouflage clothing in a dark green pattern such as Mossy Oak Full Foliage. You might require waterproof hiking boots; preferably knee-high as it is very possible we could get into some water. Your clothing should consist of long sleeve shirts, pants and a hat. Also, you may require some form of camouflage rain gear if you are hunting during the summer months. The mosquito's can be pretty bad during the summer months so during this time especially plan on the long sleeve shirts and long pants.

We suggest the use of thirty caliber or larger rifles and for the handgun hunters, nothing smaller than a 357 magnum. Shots generally range from fifty yards with a maximum shooting range of one hundred yards. Hunters will need some form of soft case for your gun for transporting it on our vehicles.

For our Bow hunters we suggest the use of a bow with a fifty-pound draw minimum. You should be proficient at twenty to thirty yards.

You will need a cooler for transporting your meat home. You will need a large one if you are planning to use your taxidermist. We have several taxidermists that we recommend and can handle the complete process including handling the mount and the paperwork. We also would suggest you bring a still or video camera with extra film for the excellent scenery.

If you are flying in, the Southwest Florida International Airport located in Fort Myers or the Ft. Lauderdale Airport are the most convenient. These airports are located approximately one and a half-hours from where you will be hunting. If you are flying into this area for the hunt we recommend that you acquire a rental car, which are available at the airport.

We have comfortable modern air-conditioned lodging on site and available for our guests that would like to hunt for more than one day or for our guests that would like some type of a combination hunt.
